Frequently asked questions

What are the 72 Melakarta ragas?
They are the 72 parent scales of Carnatic music, organised into 12 chakras of six ragas each. Every other raga (janya) is derived from one of these parents.
What are arohana and avarohana?
Arohana is the ascending sequence of notes in a raga; avarohana is the descending sequence. Together they define the raga’s melodic path.
Which swara scripts are supported?
Roman (Sa Ri Ga Ma…), Devanagari, Tamil, and Telugu — you can switch on the fly without leaving the raga you’re exploring.
