Privacy Policy

Thoughts & Bots is committed to protecting your privacy. This page explains what data we collect and why.

What we collect

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate site usage — which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, and how they navigate. We do not collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information through analytics.

GA4 may collect your anonymised IP address and device/browser type. We have configured GA4 with Google Consent Mode v2, which gates which signals can be stored or used for modelling based on your consent state.

How consent works (by region)

We treat consent differently depending on the laws that apply where you visit from. We detect your region at the network edge (no precise location, just the country your IP resolves to) and behave as follows:

  • EU, EEA, and UK visitors: We show a consent banner before any analytics cookies are set. Analytics activates only after you explicitly accept. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no identifiable analytics data is collected.
  • Visitors from all other regions (including India, the US, and elsewhere): We use Google Analytics in aggregate mode under our legitimate interest to understand site usage. No banner is shown. You can opt out at any time using the instructions in the "Your rights" section below.

Your region preference is stored in a first-party cookie named tb_region (value: eu or other) for 30 days. It contains no personal data — only the broad region used to determine which consent flow applies.

Cookies

When analytics is active, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (e.g. _ga, _ga_*) to distinguish users and sessions. These cookies expire after 2 years (_ga) or 24 hours of inactivity (_ga_*).

If you decline (EU/EEA/UK) or opt out (other regions), no analytics cookies are set. Your preference is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key tb_analytics_consent so the decision persists.

Labs tools

All Labs tools run entirely in your browser. No audio, text, or user-generated content is sent to our servers. Some tools save preferences (e.g. your home note Sa) in localStorage on your own device.

Third-party services

  • Google Analytics — usage metrics only, with Consent Mode v2. Google's Privacy Policy
  • Vercel — our hosting provider. Vercel collects standard server logs (IP, user-agent, request path) for reliability purposes. Vercel's Privacy Policy

Your rights & how to opt out

You can withdraw analytics consent at any time, regardless of where you visit from. Choose whichever method is easiest:

  • Browser-side opt-out: Open your browser's developer console on this site and run localStorage.setItem('tb_analytics_consent', 'denied'), then reload. Analytics will be disabled and stay disabled.
  • Block all cookies: Use your browser's privacy settings to block third-party cookies, or use an ad-blocker / tracking-blocker extension (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, etc.). These reliably stop Google Analytics from loading at all.
  • Google's opt-out: Install the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to disable GA across all sites you visit.
  • Clear stored data: Clearing this site's cookies and localStorage will reset all preferences. EU/EEA/UK visitors will then see the consent banner again on next visit.

For data access, correction, or deletion requests, contact us at hello@thoughtsandbots.com. We respond to verifiable requests under applicable laws including the EU/UK GDPR and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
